Thank You for choosing us to be a part of BIFF. It has been a pleasure to participate in a wonderful filmmakers event not to mention our satisfaction for being noticed by the jury. Also discovering how wonderful place Brooklyn is, was very delightful. I wish you all the luck and successes for the future editions of the Festival.Feliks Pastusiak, Producer - "The Dark House" Our film THE LOCAL is being released nationwide on October 20th, thanks in large part to the BFF. Thank you for supporting and believing in The Local! Dan Eberle, Director - "The Local" Just a brief, truly heartfelt thank you for having our film as part of your FABULOUS festival this year. We were honored and thrilled to be included. The programming, organization, publicity, design - everything - were so impressive, and such a breath of fresh air amidst the crazy, predictable festival landscape. Vanessa Gould, Director - "Between the Folds" I just wanted to thank you all for including me and The Last Lullaby. I absolutely loved being there. And thought you guys did a tremendous job with the entire thing. Keep up the great work! You guys do it right! Jeffrey Goodman, Director - "The Last Lullaby" "A Silent Love" is going to open on Oct 29 at the Quad Cinemas in Manhattan. For an independent, foreign film like ours, this New York opening is a major opportunity. I think you'll be happy to know that your invitation for us to participate in BFF was instrumental in getting us to this point. When we showed the film at BFF in June, a group of Dominicans in the audience, who quickly became our friends, told us about an independent theatre in New Jersey where they frequently show Latin American movies. Immediately that night, we went to West New York to check out this theatre. The owner of the theatre received our tape, listened to the hearty recommendations of our new friends, and promised to watch it and pass it along to his booker. The booker got it, liked it, and passed it along to the owner of the Quad Cinemas in Manhattan. "A Silent Love" was eventually included in the Quad Cinema's Fall line-up. Federico Hidalgo, Film Director - "A Silent Love" "Since the BFF's screening of my film wonderful things have happened to me. I have been invited to the Belgium Film Festival, the Turin Film Festival, and an opening at The Quad Cinema. It has been a pleasure to participate and know BFF." Gary Keys, Filmmaker - "Duke Ellington, Memories of Duke" "Without screening at BFF, we wouldn't have received a theatrical release. It was a great honor to show at the Festival the New York Premiere of my movie. Throughout the whole process everyone has shown what a class act they are - and I hope in the future I might be lucky enough to get my next film into your fest." Paul Hough, Film Director - "The Backyard" "I'm thrilled that I have won the Spirit Award! All the best!" Mike Figgis, Film Director - "Hotel" "Premiering at BFF was great for our film. Our screening was packed and generated great reviews. It opened the doors to a series of other festivals and the film ended up being picked up by 7th Art Releasing and is out on DVD through Image Entertainment." Sergio Goes, Film Director - "Black Picket Fence" "The BFF venue offers filmmakers a beautiful theatre with the highest standards of presentation equipment with which to share their films. Though our film has won many awards and received critical acclaim since the festival, I can honestly say that BFF was the most pivotal and most respected award we have had the honor of receiving. BFF opened up so many wonderful opportunities for us. Immediately following our success at the BFF, many highly interested distributors and buyers contacted us all of them heard of the film through your festival. And this is in addition to the many calls I received from the media and general public. Through the festival, we received theatrical distribution in New York and many other cities worldwide, university screenings and lectures, as well as domestic and international distribution deals." George Eid, Filmmaker - "Area K" "JP Morgan Chase is proud to be one of the oldest sponsors of the Brooklyn International Film Festival which attracts truly positive attention to Brooklyn's artists and to Brooklyn as a whole." Seth Edwards, VP Community Relations - JP Morgan Chase "I am happy that BFF has finally found a home at the Brooklyn Museum." Arnold L. Lehman, Director - Brooklyn Museum "The Brooklyn International Film Festival has added a new dimension to Brooklyn." Marty Markovitz, Brooklyn Borough President "Congratulations on the Film Festival! We were pleased to be a part of the event." Karen Brook Hopkins, President - Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) "Great films, great parties, great festival. An integral part of the Brooklyn art scene." Douglas Steiner - Steiner Equities "Each year, the Festival got bigger and better known. Now, it hit the big time. The fest moved to the prestigious Brooklyn Museum and landed high-profile movies." Vincent Musetto, Film Editor - New York Post "So, ya think ya know what a film festival in Brooklyn looks like? Think again. The 6th fest starts on Monday with the US premiere of "Merci, Dr. Rey," a Merchant-Ivory film starring Vanessa Redgrave and Dianne Wiest." Stephen Garrett, Writer - Time Out NY "Being from Brooklyn and making my living in film for the past decade or so, I would love to help out and be involved in the coming years. It's very exciting."
