Time of Breadth is a document of a telephone conversation between the artist and his mother recounting the Lebanese wars. It is a portrayal micro-politics that reveals the ongoing vulnerable state of the artist as a result of a painful past.
About the director
Ali El-Darsa, born in Beirut, Lebanon, is a Montreal-based artist who works in video, performance art and installation. His work examines a personal history, the self, its duality and often employs elements of replication by which he defies behavioural patterns and expresses internal conflicts that coexist between what he is and what he wants to be. Using language and performative gesture, the artist also emphasizes the role in the cultural divide that affects his long-term social integration on a psychological level.
