About the director
Olivia Loccisano is a filmmaker and screenwriter whose work explores transformations of the body through dark fantasy, body horror, and magical realism. Her narratives examine how women and girls navigate life through their own imagination and rituals, frequently intersecting with Catholic themes to confront its structures-- particularly patriarchy and guilt. Her stop-motion and live-action films Pocket Princess (2024) and First Blood (2023, ALTER) have screened at festivals including Fantasia, Chicago International Film Festival, BUFF, Blood in the Snow, and Final Girls Berlin. Her short stories and poetry have appeared in literary magazines such as Coffin Bell Journal, Prometheus Dreaming and Pink Plastic House. Olivia’s work is supported by the Canada, Ontario, and Toronto Arts Councils as well as the National Film Board of Canada (NFB).
