Filmmaker's note
When I was a production assistant working on Toy Story 4 at Pixar, I asked my friend and fellow PA Logan Hester if he would be interested in producing an animated short inspired by the cartoons I grew up watching in the 90s and early 2000s-- full of gags, heightened situations, and plenty of squash and stretch. This film was produced as part of the Pixar Animation Studios Co-Op Film Program, which allows Pixar employees to make a wholly independent short film, with artists both in and outside of the studio.
Being a first time director, I was incredibly fortunate to collaborate with so many talented friends and artists across the animation industry to bring this film to life.
Throughout the course of development and production, we all stepped into shoes bigger than our own, challenged ourselves creatively, and ultimately lifted each other up to make an animated short that we’re incredibly proud of. We’re so excited for the opportunity to screen “Amped” at BIFF.
