Synopsis
An impulsive Chinese American teen and her boyfriend try to buy the morning after pill in post-Roe America.
About the director
Rao is a screenwriter and director based in Brooklyn, with roots in Missouri, Tennessee, and Illinois. Rao’s short film THE TRUCK World Premiered at Telluride Film Festival, won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Short at Oscar-qualifying Florida Film Festival, has screened at MoMA, Hamptons International Film Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Chicago Critics Film Festival, and more, and is supported by top awards from The Future of Film is Female, Fusion Film award, NYU Kings Award, Clive Davis award, and the Joe Laxamana Emerging Filmmaker Award at The Asian American Showcase. As a Gotham-award nominated filmmaker, her feature films as producer and editor have premiered at Sundance, SXSW (award winner), Berlinale, Tribeca (double award winner), and been nominated for multiple Indie Spirit and Gotham awards. Supported by the Hear Us screenwriting grant as a writer and director, Rao is writing her debut feature.
