About the director

Hannah McNally, director of Henrietta Finds a Nest, is an Emmy-nominated director who uses animation to shine a light on complex topics. She especially appreciates hand-drawn animation, as careful translation of ideas directly from hand to screen gives each story a personal and unique touch. Hannah aims to create sensitive, authentic work that emotionally engages audiences with the story being told. Her portfolio includes acclaimed documentary Miss Americana and the documentary series The Principles of Pleasure and Watch the Sound with Mark Ronson. Beyond directing animated films, Hannah collaborates with changemakers such as the ACLU, Girl Rising, and the National Autistic Society, using animation as a powerful tool to amplify often unheard voices and advance important causes.

Recent recognition includes a nomination for Outstanding Visual Design at the Cinema Eye Honors Awards for her work on The Mission (2023) and an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Graphic Design & Art Direction for The Principles of Pleasure.
