Synopsis
A wandering horse leads to a wandering mind through the extraterrestrial beauty of New Mexico.
An experimental microfilm made while an artist-in-residence at The Parador, Santa Fe. Animation experiments including oil pastel palimpsest, replacement animation, compositing, and stop motion, contained within a diorama inspired by the many silly horses of New Mexico.
About the director
Emily Ann Hoffman is a multidisciplinary filmmaker, animator, artist and educator. She works across live action and animated media to create films that explore sexuality, gender and intimacy through poignant comedy. Her films have screened at festivals such as Sundance, SXSW, and Slamdance, and have earned her Oscar-qualifying awards. Her work has been supported by programs such as the Warner Bros. Discovery Access Directors Program, the New York Film Festival Artist Academy, Sundance Institute’s Sundance Ignite, The Gotham TV-series lab and market, and New York Foundation for the Arts. Her commissioned animation and film work can be seen on platforms such as Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Adobe and more. Emily holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and serves as an Assistant Professor of Animation at NYU, Tisch School of the Arts.
