Synopsis
On the verge of her marital life, a young woman makes a journey into the night to find out why she has lost her heartbeat and turned golden.

About the director
Director Mari Mantela studied film at the Aalto University in Helsinki, directing awarded short films which have been screened at the international festivals as well as in television in Finland and Sweden. For a decade Mantela worked internationally directing commercial productions and gained a strong visual style which often combines magical realism with classical and character driven storytelling. Mantela is currently working on her debut feature.

The story of RABOBESTO – Or How I Saved a Monster deals with coping in an adult life molded by the past with an alcoholic parent.
The film is inspired by an actual interview and collaboration with the main actress Alina Tomnikov and the story contains autobiographical elements of Tomnikov´s life.
