About the director
Ornella Pacchioni (b. 1996) is a writer, screenwriter, and director whose work explores adolescence and fragmented identity through poetic visual storytelling. A Fine Art graduate from Saint Martins School in London, she began her career as a resident artist in Berlin and Los Angeles before turning to film. Her debut short, Mange Tes Yeux (2018), was followed by several award-winning films (Bleue, Ibisigo, Peach). She is also the author of a novel (Londres a beau être une ville laide, Lattès) and two poetry collections. Based in Paris, she is currently working on her first feature film (Earl Grey), a series, and a collection of short stories.
Filmmaker's note
Peach was born from the desire of speaking to my teenage self as I tried to fit in boxes dedicated to femininity. The repeated action of putting on make-up echoes her ceaseless efforts, even in her most intimate gestures and places, to adjust. The inverted treatment turns this mundane scene upside down, showing the lights in the shadows. What is not supposed to be seen is revealed, like her.
