Synopsis
Blurring the lines of truth and fiction, this sociological essay film collages moments of distant future with observations on technology led evolution and what may come next for humanity.
In the image of stone is a meditation on the idea of permanence. Paced as if the viewer were flicking through radio stations, each segment contributes a small part to a greater narrative of where we came from and where we're going.
About the director
Orlando FitzGerald is a filmmaker from the Devil's Glen area in Ireland, who relocated to Brooklyn in 2013. The work he makes blurs lines between documentary and fiction with the aim to facilitate new ways of thinking about science and the world around us.
With an extensive background in music and sound-design, Orlando's approach to making films is invariably intertwined with sound. In his films he uses sound to emphasize the otherworldly qualities of the natural subjects, with the intent to accentuate their character, bridge an unspoken gap between them and the viewer.
