Synopsis
Lights Out monitors the streets of downtown Philadelphia to find out where birds are colliding with buildings during migration. Looking for dead and injured birds as part of Birds Safe Philly, a program to turn-off excessive lighting and educate on bird-safe glass.
About the director
Mike Fernandez (born in Lima, Peru).
I’m a photographer and filmmaker, my work is a way of building community, a communication device. I’m committed to addressing the diversity gap – principally, a lack of people of color and young people in the environmental field and conservation movement. I am currently a video producer for the National Audubon Society. My work has been featured in New York Magazine, the New York Times, Aperture Gallery, David Yurman, HERE Arts Center, Outside Magazine, Univision, De Standaard (Belgium), FronteraD (Spain), Audubon Magazine, among others.
