synopsis A wealthy out-of-towner hires an indigent man to extract his daughter from the drug-induced stranglehold of her lover, a sadistic war-scarred veteran. "The Local" is an existential action-thriller about a nameless man, torn apart by a dark past, and his bloody and thankless path to redemption in a world beyond saving. director Dan Eberle was born in 1974 in San Diego, California to Paul and Mary Eberle. He was a prodigious Jazz guitarist in his youth and played and taught professionally for 15 years before making his first serious foray into film. In 2004, Eberle retired from music to pursue his film directing, writing and acting career with the featurette "Vicissitude," a harrowing portrait of a man tormented by the mystery of his lost wife, and the black hole of vengeance that consumes him. Eberle wrote, directed and starred in "Vicissitude" alongside Paul James Vasquez. Eberle's first feature, "Jailcity," earned Best Feature at the Avignon/New York Film Festival. Dan currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
